At Morwell Park PS we actively encourage and provide opportunities for our young people to be involved in a range of activities in which they can develop:
Decision making skills
Conflict resolution skills
Student-driven decision making is a priority for our school and we openly encourage and support our children to have robust discussions and make decisions that directly influence their learning opportunities and outcomes.
Leadership opportunities include:
- School Captains
- House Captains
- Junior School Council
- Junior Fundraising Committee
A tailored online leadership program “Leaders of Evolution – Young Leaders in Schools” was piloted in 2017 for our year six students. This provided the necessary skills and knowledge for our students enabling them to design and create a mural for the cancer centre of our local hospital.
Our JSC assist with ‘Meals on Wheels’ weekly, providing this service to members of our community.
Opportunities to represent the school community at ANZAC and Remembrance Day Ceremonies along with other special occasions occur regularly.
Children are actively involved in leading school assemblies and also planning and implementing special cross aged activity days throughout the year. Eg: Harmony Day, Science Week, Literacy Week, Aboriginal Celebration Day.
The Junior School Council have created the video below, highlighting some of their work throughout the year.
